All dogs can - aggression is learned by dogs (mostly from owner lack of training imho). If my dog ever exhibited any form of aggression toward another dog or human a quick whip-like snap of the leash and she stops. It's not hard but it puts her into "listen to me" mode. All behavior is learned - both bad and good. Sad to say, Bear learned his through owner ignorance or incompetence. While there is a time and a place for "dogs will be dogs" play, it's never when a younger is visiting an older on their home turf, esp when one has aggressive tendencies through lack of training. The dogs should have been introduced several times: - At a neutral place- At home of younger- With others present if possible Sorry you had to deal with that. You did the right thing leaving. And shame on the other owner for not recognizing the aggression for what it was. That should've been a time out imho. Hard stop. Check out The Art of Raising a Puppy from the monks of New Skete. Best method ever. https://a.co/d/0dS9b6Al
