At what time if your surgery tomorrow? Mine is scheduled a little bit after 7am, but I have to be at the hospital by 5:45am. The surgery is scheduled to last over 5 hours, so I won't be out until after 12 pm. For protein, I already drink these protein drinks (Amazon.com : Core Power Protein Shake, Vanilla, 26g Bottle, 14oz, 12 Pack : Grocery & Gourmet Food) and actually like the flavor. The nurse also recommended this protein jello (Amazon.com : Gelatein Orange: 20 grams of protein. Sugar free. Ideal for clear liquid diets, swallowing difficulties, bariatric, dialysis and oncology. Great pre or post-workout snack. (12 pack) : Health & Household), I have it in my fridge now, but I haven't tasted it yet. I plan to start every morning with a protein drink, jello, and yogurt later for a snack so that should get me to close to 60g of protein by noon. I also have some soups but I'm worried about sodium, my body tends to retain a lot of water when I eat lots of salty things. I'm sorry to hear about your mom, I can see how that experience has shaped how you feel about your own surgery. Look at it glass half full, your mom is okay now and because of that, you now have the knowledge to be better prepared for your own surgery. The nurse also recommended that I use saline solution on my wounds after the shower and lightly pat them dry with a gauze. Bought a new bath sponge and planning to deep clean the crap out of my shower today, luckily I have a walk in shower and we happen to have a bath chair to sit on due to my son having a couple of Achilles heel surgeries within the past year. My sons surgeries also shaped how I feel about my own, I realized that the surgery itself is such a small part of it, the recovery is what is hard and time consuming, but with due time and care, you'll be fine and won't have any regrets once you come out the other end. 😄 The physical discomfort is only going to be temporary, but the confidence you'll gain from your new body will have a long lasting positive emotional effect.
