I have a separate tub from my shower but the tub is a deep soaking tub. I used to like to sit in the bath and read a book but couldn't get in (or especially out) of the tall tub. An analog to your problem is also getting in and out of cars. I returned to driving one week after my RTKR. Driving was easy (automatic transmission small SUV) but bending the leg to get in and out was difficult. Ask your MVD for a temporary handicapped placard. The spaces are wider and it will be much easier to get your leg in and out whether you are the passenger or driver.
