I've seen some crazy looking recipes where people wrap the food and put it in the toaster slot, but that's not the sort of DIY project I'd be willing to risk. In terms of microwave usage, I like and use a steamer type setup to cook some foods. Mine is by Cuisinart : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094178NMM On the other hand, I do find myself using a large glass bowl or a rectangular glass baking dish to perform basically the same function. The steamer basket setup just keeps the food elevated out of the water in the bottom. Sorry I don't have any specific recipes, but I will say that I learned a lot from the microwave cookbooks that my dad had with the first one he ever bought. It's mostly about learning to work with the moisture that's available, being patient and stopping to stir, using lower heat settings and letting go of the idea of browning food. TBH, I mostly use mine to reheat leftovers. These days I do use my very small, very cheap rice cooker to cook/steam things as the rice cooks.FWIW, Roger Ebert wrote a whole cookbook about cooking in a rice cooker that might be an entertaining read and expand your options. Check your available library systems, I was amazed just now at finding a copy locally.
