Why an iPad? I plan to use my phone (if anything) and not a tablet, but for a dedicated device I'd reach for a cheap, ruggedized industrial Android tablet: https://maplesystems.com/product/modelname/rt1310a/ https://store.onerugged.com/products/m80t-8-inch-military-hardened-ruggedized-android-tablet-pc?variant=43747432988858 All the commercial ones are rated to 50C/122F operation and 60C/140F storage, and that's what's getting used all day in warehouses and manufacturing plants and construction sites so they're used to the abuse. Or just get a cheap consumer tablet for under $200: https://www.cdw.com/product/lenovo-tab-k9-zaf2-tablet-android-14-or-later-64-gb-8.7/8368454?pfm=srh Maybe find one for under $100 if you look a bit: https://www.newegg.com/p/0EJ-000P-00FY8?Item=9SIAMDGKU86250 and just see how long it lasts. I can understand paying the Apple luxury tax for really nice gadgets that you want to feel good in the hand and look sleek and smooth on your desk at work or your coffee table at home, but there's no reason to use one in the Slate. Android Auto/Google Maps navigation and traffic alerts are superior to Carplay/Apple Maps anyways!
