The 8 gb is just what i had. I would definitely recommend the 2gb. This is definitely overkill. The least expensive 2gb pi 4 on amazon was $69. So here i am. This is the one i would have bought if i didn’t have one already. https://a.co/d/00TVRT8r Edit: the pi zero is not recommended for this project. The manufacturer of the pi hat recommends only pi 4 or 5.
