I have a Crucial M.2 SSD inside of a Ugreen enclosure. When it comes to the speed of an SSD, you’ll need to look at the specs, not the brand. For your use case, you’ll want one that has TLC NAND (some of the more budget SSDs use QLC NAND which has lower speeds and endurance). You could look at a WD_BLACK SN7100, which is a TLC SSD that has SLC cache, or if your budget allows, you could look at a Samsung 990 Pro or WD_BLACK SN850X which both feature DRAM cache (which is better). Then you could put whatever drive you get inside of a USB4 enclosure such as this one.

I have this one and it's worked great plugged into one of the TBolt ports on the back. https://a.co/d/01iU6AGL
