Oh yeah, it cuts bars straight, and fast. The cuts are perfectly clean. Setting it to get the perfect size bars every time is also easier. I was using a wire hand cutting saw with slotted soap cutting box. The only "hard" part is getting the wire tension right so it cuts all the way through on one push down. Initially I didn't have the wire tight enough so I'd have to push down on the wire with my finger to make the wire go all the way through for the last little bit. The wire has to be pretty tight, like a taught guitar string, but not so tight the wire snaps. I'm still working out the proper tension since I just got it, but I haven' snapped a wire either. Also be sure to loosen the wire when done, don't store it taught. This is the one I got, but Amazon has tons of other ones that all look the same.
