You are right to be concerned. If the photo is real your mom is down the rabbit hole of being a backyard breeder and possibly a hoarder. Even if there are no laws in her location restricting these practices there are generally ordinances regarding number of animals. A heads up to whatever their local authorities may be could at least put her in their radar especially if you think the situation will overwhelm her. It happens... If the image is AI enhanced (and that does not appear to be the case from what I see), that is also very concerning. Would she do this just to annoy and concern you? That is very thoughtless and immature (not funny). And if it was done for social media clicks, validation or testing the waters of others' reaction to her hobby and future plans that is def time she could have spent discussing with you or addressing the dogs's needs. Shelters and rescues are overflowing with chihuahuas and small breed mixes so her idea of selling poorly bred pups is unrealistic and, sadly, unethical. Finally, if you believe there is nothing you can do to stop her at least perhaps you can help diminish any inbreeding. Perhaps this book would be a nice gift.
