These are probably just fine. As long as she has a standard 4 string long scale bass. These are the guages I like, 45-65-85-105. Stringing a bass is quite easy. Watch a few YouTube videos. Since it hasnt had 1 string for a year, its likely it will need a truss rod adjustment for best playability. I'd start with the strings and see what happens.
