Be wary of Barth. Sure he's theologically famous.... but he also spent most of his life cheating on his wife, forcing her to live with his mistress, hiding it from the public, all while writing about the things of God. Imo Barth isnt really worth engaging with, anymore than nonChristian religious leaders are, even just for recognizing that his theology is entirely warped by his own sin. (Article on his adultry) Frankly, I don't think Barth is worth your time. At best, you could read someone else's take on Barth and be fine. Michael Allen at RTS has a decent treatment of Barth here. Go Bavinck, you get a similar background and era with much better and healthier theology.
