Yeah I carefully removed the old mix including rinsing with water, repotted into the Top Pot, watered and added synthetic fertilizer, and kept it indoors under lights for a few weeks because it was still too cold. Then I had it outdoors for a couple months. It started losing leaves shortly after repotting in the top pot and then got worse, with branches dying towards the end. :( I gave it 3 months to acclimate and recover from transplant shock. The issue was definitely not too much sun, the environment is shaved by another tree's leaves and branches with direct sun only for an hour at dusk. From what I read, this is the ideal environment for citrus since they would typically live sheltered from direct sun below the canopy of larger trees. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but the same plant was doing well in the same environment the previous year and the only difference was the top pot. The only other difference is that I repotted from a ceramic into a slightly larger fabric pot, but there's no reason for that to be a problem. Since so many other people have had luck with top pot, my guess is the stuff I got from Amazon got fucked up somehow 🤷. I'm aware that 5-1-1 will break down over time into a "sludge" while top pot doesn't have this issue since it's almost entirely inorganic. So I'll repot in fresh media after a while.
