After my experience with AI, I couldn't agree with you more. I know nothing and AI clearly steered me wrong. This whole thing started because I have 20v Dewalt batteries and I was tired of the battery on the Dump Truck ride-on dying in the middle of a ride. I wanted to have a full, spare battery in the trunk that we could swap out mid-ride. Only when one of the gears on the OEM motors sheared off, did I then embark on this harrowing exploration of upgrades leading to the OEM board frying. So that's where I'm at. I have ordered the 24V JR board and the LVP DeWalt adaptor that u/Shibby7634 recommended....along with my upgraded motors I hope this equals something that works. I'm not sure what happened to fry your board with a 12v stepdown, that's very unusual. I've done the same multiple times in the past and never heard of that happening unless the stepdown wasn't included and the board popped from overvoltage. That board should be just fine so long as the steering and 7pin connectors match your current setup. The motor and power plugs are universal between models. As for the stepdown, you would want to power the vehicles other electronics with one. Lights usually survive 18v, radios are very hit and miss, but usually they fry almost instantly. I recommend the MGCStem DeWalt convert, as it has built in low voltage protection to save your batteries from draining beyond their limit, and they have a variant with a dedicated 12v stepdown terminal for accessories that may not survive the higher voltages.
