So right now, you click "Reset", your machine turns on? Then if you click power... does that perform the reset function? Or does nothing happen? If it's the latter, then it's possible that you plugged the connector in so that the bottom row of the connector is connected to the top row of pins on your header, and you might just need to line that up... so double-check that. (I've seen this happen here more than a few times.)
