I have 2 separate boar set ups (56”x28” or 2x4 CC) because they haven’t successfully bonded, and my wife and I are doing a full cleaning at least once a day, and several spot cleanings throughout the day (picking up poops, and sweeping/vacuuming hay dust). We have a dedicated vacuum in the room and that can suck up some larger pieces of hay and all the poops, it makes the process way cleaner and more complete. We have to sacrifice our time throughout the day for this because piggy care is no joke, and kind of expensive to a degree (at least the initial setup). We’ll also swap the bath mats we use on top of their fleece every few days, and a full cage cleanup every 2-3 weeks. We’ve been doing more regular cleaning to prevent an outbreak of lice which our boys have been successfully treated for recently. Definitely don’t let the poops get that bad, even if that means waking up early, or doing a cleanup before bed. Here’s what we use:• 2x4 Cage • 2x4 Coroplast / pig pen • 2x4 absorbant/washable sub liner (https://a.co/d/0cjZay7a) • 2x4 Fleece liner (from Etsy) • A bunch of 17”x24” & 20”x 32” bathmats from Target (Everyday brand, inexpensive and good reuasable quality: https://www.target.com/p/everyday-chenille-bath-rug-room-essentials/-/A-81953847?preselect=81781733#lnk=sametab ) ***I’ll have 2 in the cage, 1 where they sleep / by the water bottle, and another nearest where I place the hay because they love pooping and peeing near their food…) • We use vinyl gloves to handle their hay and spot pick up poops • Try to invest in vacuum that’s big enough to suck everything up. My pigs aren’t afraid if I use it when they’re inside at that same time. I hope this helps with your care and setup. Try not to let the poops get like that in your 2nd photo because you’ll encounter more problems down the line - think of it like this, they’ll be walking and laying in all of that, eating in that, etc. Good luck!
