I'm not sure why, but these images made me think of The Covenant of Steel by Anthony Ryan. It's a somewhat tragic story about the main character falling in love with an FMC who starts out as a warrior-saint figure leading a holy rebellion, but she eventually goes down an evil path. Don't expect a happy ending, but their love for each other is genuine and I thought it was a great love story. Also the first book legit has one of the best covers I have ever seen.
