I just posted this on another sub as an idea for a cabinet front and I think it would be a great treatment for a headboard. I've attached a link for half dowels and another for scalloped trim. You could adhere these to the headboard. You could paint them or just leave the natural wood. A fast and inexpensive fix is wallpaper - it comes in any color, style or design that you want. It looks like you have a beautiful room with lovely windows and floors. That's a really good start.
