building outrigger sailing canoes by Gary dierking is a excellent source if you want to home build a proa. It won’t be exactly like the one in Moana as that is modeled off traditional methods but it will be functionally equivalent. The book has 3 different full designs with plans and construction instructions. I have wanted to build the wa’appa from the book for some time but just haven’t gotten around to it.
