I am very much in the same camp with my partner as I have a speaker I play ambient out loud and need headphones as well. These Headphones have been a godsend since they don't actually go in your ear and go on your ear instead. They are cushioned so when you lay on your side you don't have some hard object being pushed into your ear. Caveats though. It is a headband so if you don't like those it will be more of the same. Good audio quality, but the side you lay on can be too loud if your not careful. It's quiet but not silent, if your partner is a super light sleeper you are gonna have to find a good audio balance so as not to disturb them, and by being on the outside of your ear sound can leak in from the outside since it's not insulated form the world who has can be annoying. Final note is that it does compress your hair which can be a hassle to fix in morning and it's cords are sort of fragile so if you're too rough it might mess with the audio. Otherwise these are great and I've used them for the last 3 year and am never going back to earbuds for sleep.
