The sensors are at the top of the robot where the cat jumps in and out. I had a ton of sensor issues with mine (they do not like dust, which is all cat litter is) to the point where they sent me three different units on top of the one I originally paid for. Buying an air duster on Amazon solved my problem thanks to a post on this Sub. I wish I would've known this a year ago because as a single person with disabilities getting this thing in and out of the box is difficult.
