The second one is more old school. Maybe get a copy for both of you and use it as a reference point. I feel like sometimes having an outside perspective or a manual can help. Like, let's try what the book says and then reevaluate what works for us. That way you are not coming up with the plan for him, the book is and both of you were following it. I feel like if you have to create the plan for him then that becomes another job for you
