Just to throw one more option out there, I've been using these Surefire EP4's for years, both for noisy work around the house and doubling up at the range. They are very soft for hours of comfort, and low profile so they have never interfered with muffs. And the price isn't bad, either. I've had them last for years, I inevitably end up losing one before they ever show any signs of wearing out. They have a little mechanical valve in them that clamps shut when hit with loud sound pressure, so with the little cap open you can carry on a normal conversation yet still have a little protection (12db NRR)in case something loud goes off. If you close the little cap, you get 24db NRR, which is pretty good for comfortable, lowpro in-ears. Can't hear as well, obviously. When I am doubling up with my electronic muffs at the range, I usually wear these with the filter caps open under my electronic muffs. Carrying on a conversation at normal levels is no problem, but I've still got excellent noise protection from whatever the guy in the next lane is shooting. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defenders-filtered-Earplugs-reusable/dp/B001V2SS9G
