To be fair, I don't use it as a dining room table, it lives in my basement in a dedicated board game area. It fits my size well, being close to the 3x5 ratio and came with all the little things I wanted at a bargain price. I rarely use the table toppers to make it a full table, so I can't speak to their waterproof nature. However, I wouldn't trust any table fully to protect the game beneath it. If I was going to leave a game set up and put the slats on, I'd still place a water proof cover followed by a table cloth over top of it. For the price, very please with the overall quality - considering it was only 500ish bucks.
