I quit alcohol with my de novo metastatic (lung mets) diagnosis. I’d been cutting back in the six months to that point, and this gave me the push to quit. All three oncologists, even my first who was a total jerk, have all said it’s one of the best lifestyle changes I could do going into treatment. If I’d had liver metastases, I would have absolutely quit? I took a year of biochemistry classes for my genetics major, and my biochem profs were all crystal clear that the liver is the most important detoxifying organ in our bodies (followed by kidneys), we only have one, and everything hits harder when your liver has disease. I kinda blew all that off until my diagnosis. I’ve also found that NA beers, mocktails, and even some wines taste just like the real thing without the negative consequences. Neil Patrick Harris and his husband made this awesome book on mocktail/cocktail pairings: https://a.co/d/08E404n5
