You don't need to spend that much. Any of the cheap GoPro clones or cheap cameras will work. They don't even need to be really high resolution. They just need to be clear enough to prove you didn't cause the accident, or that it's not completely your fault. I bought 2 cameras, 1 for the front and 1 for the rear, for less than 1/3 the price of a single GoPro. I have a Dragon4k clone of the GoPro for my front camera and it works fine for my commute rides under 1 hour. I actually got it several years before and never really used it much until I got my e-bike. It's good enough and definitely much cheaper than a GoPro, that I won't care as much if it's stolen or gets damaged in a crash. The colors look more washed out, but that's probably because it more raw and not color adjusted in software like the more expensive GoPro and that's fine for what I need it for. If you need longer time recordings, the GoPro and its clones have too short a recording time. You have swap out the battery around every 70-90 minutes when they're new. These are generally around 1-1/2" square or 4cm square, much bigger than that fake image. It only records 10s every minute, but it's a rear camera and basically used as a deterrent for cars coming up my rear. If they hit me I have 2 cameras to point to.
