I'm going to tack on some details and suggestions to this list. Get a 3 piece skillet set if you're serious about improving. If a set is too much, get an 8 incher for your eggs in the morning and a 12 for stir fry or other things. If you've got room in your budget the 12 can be a cast iron. They're not that scary or hard to maintain, promise. For the big pot, I would advise a steel one with a thick bottom. For your knife, get a proper chef knife. something like this. get a 400/1000 grit sharpening stone as well or at least a honing edge. If you're going to learn....you'll be rough on your tools at first. That's ok. For the utensils like tongs and spatula...please. just get a set like this learn from me and DO NOT GET A SET WITH WOODEN HANDLES. They are very prone to molding. It sucks. Don't get plastic. Get the silicone/rubber/whatever other alternate there is. Get a small baking sheet for now. No need for the big one until you need it. They're also easier to wash and handle in general. If anyone has more questions dm me. I learned to start cooking for myself pretty early and its probably the best skill ive ever learned. Oh yeah, buy a first aid kit with bandages and finger condoms. You will almost inevitably slice or chop yourself. Sorry.
