The forks on this bike are junk (expected as much, but not this junk) and are fully steel. They also aren't adjustable at all, so they might as well just be a rigid fork for her, just much heavier. I was looking at an adjustable air fork, both for weight, but more so for any actually functional suspension. Looking at this one on Amazon https://a.co/d/06JI3yci The derailleur and cassette was less about getting a nicer drivetrain, and more about getting something more reliable and predictable. The microshift derailleur it came with is total junk, and she really struggles to shift reliably with it. I was looking at Shimano Cues or Deore as an option.
