It’s not really lightweight (but I am a really small person so ymmv) but I really love the Prevue travel carrier. It has special slots so you can buckle it into the car for safety. And it’s really sturdy to protect your bird just in case of an accident. I’ve used it for all of my birds (cockatiels, Quaker, Amazon) and it’s a good size for them to stay in during trips.
The travel carrier seems small, and for a very long ride like that I recommend an actual cage. Those backpacks are not good for airflow or very comfortable for the bird to move around in. This is one that I use. Diapers are a no no. A bird needs to be able to freely use the bathroom. Diapers allow bacteria to flourish. Just place down napkins or paper wherever you plan on having your bird. If you’re not comfortable with bird poo, a bird is not the pet for you. I don’t really see the need for a disinfectant beyond vinegar, dish soap (no scent or dyes) and baking soda and hot water. Just my opinion You need to research bird safe woods because you can’t use any type of material for bird toys or perches.
