It doesn't matter. The point is that you are cutting (ripping) the board along the long side scribed (cut in a way that mimics the uneven lines) to the uneven wall. You intentionally should be leaving a little space between the edge of the board the wall which can be covered with the quarter round or baseboard. You will continue to have people in this sub demand that you take up the baseboard before floor install and then use it to cover that intentional gap instead of using quarter round.. but it's a preference thing. I did not pull up my baseboards and I used quarter round instead after and it looks fine for me. (And since none of my friends are contractors literally no one thinks its a bad thing.) You need to look up some YouTube videos on ripping against an uneven wall. I installed my own floor (with 0 experience) after watching hours of YouTube videos and reading all the tips and tricks I could find on Reddit. Highly recommend a plank cutter (I used one like this https://a.co/d/0gRdZaSn).
