If you’re not sure, don’t drink it down. Why risk it? Water is always a good alternative when you just can’t tell. There are many ways to tell if it’s the wrong drink. A lot of folk just use their meter. I don’t like the idea of wasting an expensive test strip on that. I use these https://a.co/d/0bGZQ26x I can usually tell by how it smells, regular soda usually smells god awful sweet, but if I can’t tell then I use one of those diet detector strips. Had a girl mess it up on me the other day, she was obviously new & was a foreigner to boot. Didn’t understand “Diet Pepsi”. I don’t normally drink Diet Pepsi, usually it’s a Diet Coke, but we were at a restaurant that had Pepsi products. I couldn’t tell what she had given me and since I couldn’t tell I didn’t wanna risk it. I was going to just send it back & get a water instead but I remembered I had those strips. Turns out it really was regular & I was right to refuse it. I keep a tube in the pouch I carry my fingerstick meter in. I always have that with me just in case the Dexcom decides to go squirrelly on me.
