You need this https://a.co/d/0a9R0yRJ It kills all the smells. They use it in nursing homes and I have used a different version of it as odor killer in my home. I'm a caregiver for a person with ESLD.
Try using Zero Odor detergent. I've had good luck with it. I've tried washing in unscented detergent over and over, unscented Oxi Clean, vinegar, baking soda.... With almost no success whatsoever. Like you, the clothes made me sick to wear, and I couldn't hang them in the closet because even hanging next to another shirt overnight was enough to "infect" that item with the same accent and make it permanently unwearable as well! Zero Odor detergent is the only thing that has worked. It's not perfect, but it has reduced the smell of sickening softener/detergent by ~75%. Sometimes it takes it completely, if the garment hasn't been fully "bathed" in it yet. Here is how I would wash it (modify to work with the options available on the machine you are using): DO NOT FORGET to shake Zero Odor detergent very well before each use! For something like that dress, you'll need to use a full capful of detergent (1 cup). -Heavy or Deep wash cycle -Heavy soil selection -Hottest/Warmest water okay for dress -Extra rinses - 3-5 (if you can't add them to the cycle, run it through a couple extra rinses after washing) You will probably have to do this TWICE. Hope this helps! Best of luck!! 🤞
