With the cupboard door open you will have no issues with overheating. Do not remove the covers from the console, they are aerodynamically designed for cooling, removing them makes things worse, not better. If you want to do things properly buy these: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00IJ2J2K0?ref_=pe_64690442_581645102_t_fed_asin_title And a hole saw, saw a hole towards the front of the cabinet (base) and one at the rear, place fans over holes, with a small foam or rubber gasket. The front fan is facing 'up' pulls in fresh air, the back one is reversed and pulls the hot air out (console exhausts hot air from back). You will never see the holes, can keep your cupboard closed all the time, and the PS can be set so the fans turn on when the console is on, off when the console is off.
