a few tips: Cotton is cheap, linen is expensive, but linen breathes even when wet, cotton traps heat against you and can be more uncomfortable. If you can get linen, go with linen. For the chafing issue, I wear bloomers like this under my dress. Theyre not exactly period and they get a bit hot, but no one is seeing them anyway, and you kinda have to accept that you are going to sweat. and when they get sweaty they don't stick and chafe like my linen undergarments... they glide. Temps at pennsic are usually hot with not much breeze. If you're there for awhile it's also almost certainly going to rain at least one day (this is what I hear, I have only gone sporadically and for a few days at a time not a whole week like you!)
