I believe it is because the USB-C to Lightning adapter in your picture is probably for mics/headphones. It seems like that is the right way to go, but in fact, you need an adapter that is power/data. DJI's version: https://store.dji.com/product/dji-mic-series-mobile-receiver-adapter-usb-c-to-lightning?vid=200602 Something like this from Amazon should work too. I am pretty confident the 27W version is sufficient, but maybe the 36W version is required. https://a.co/d/02srgBXj The mobile adapter gets its power from your phone; it has no internal battery. The charging port on the mobile adapter is for charging your phone during long recording sessions, not for charging the adapter itself. The mobile adapter is digital, so it captures the sound from the mics and transfers it to your phone via a data connection, not a mic/headphones connection. This is why your current adapter is not working to power the mobile adapter and won't work to capture the audio from your mics, even if it were powered via the charging port.
