Do you have ideas in mind of the kind of things you would like to make out of beads? Recommending exact products you should get for under $50 is difficult unless you have a direction in mind. The tools you'll need, regardless, are: - An ironThe most budget-friendly one I see is $13 from Walmart: Black+Decker Easy Steam Iron with Smart Steam Technology, TrueGlide Nonstick Soleplate - Walmart.comI prefer using a dry iron with no steam holes, but those aren't cost-effective for this - Pegboard(s)Most kits from Perler.com will come with beads+boards together, but look here: Pegboards – Perler for additional shapes beyond "just square" that you might want to use - Ironing paper (parchment paper)Again, some kits will come with this, but you can also get a roll of bakery parchment paper (not waxpaper) from Walmart for like $3: Great Value Unbleached Parchment Paper Roll, 50 Sq ft, 15 W x 40’ L, Greaseproof, Oven Safe - Walmart.com -Storage/OrganizationShould probably be the thing you worry the least about if you're working with $50. You can easily use rubberbands to roll the bead bags back up and put them in a small box or storage tote or something you already have available. Now, for the beads: don't mix and match brands. Ikea and Amazon sell their own "fuse beads" like Perlers, but they are not the same and they do not melt the same way. If you get them cuz they're cheap and then want to get official Perler-brand ones later, keep them fully separate. If you just want to make something to start with, just look here: Activity Kits – Perler. These will give you some boards, some ironing paper, and several thousand beads in a reasonable selection of colors to start with.If you have a specific character or something, I'm sure this community can help identify the best colors to use. Perler is currently running a sale for $2.50 bags of 1000 beads, so this would be a good time to iron those details out!
