Heya OP, Im on Briumvi (infusion). So nurses are weird....I have been told and have had my arms ogled by them because "I have GREAT veins", apparently. So thats fun lol. I opted for the infusion route after I read all the statistics and ROR's (reporting odds ratios) and compared them to my life (prior medical, diet, exercise, mentality, etc). The other small factor I took into consideration is that since we have immune issues now, regular pokes, not matter how well prepped, could add to an infection. Probably not, I know I know, but it simply removes any potential from "my" end. And every bit of mental sanity is more than welcome. Goin a lil deeper. I crashed my motorcycle in 2010 and broke 3/4 of my body. I had to have daily bloodthinners due to me being a human Jackson Pollock of purples and yellow bruises. I hated it. Not necessarily the pain, because....well....after 3 surgeries and all but one leg broken, I know pain (am half T100 from Terminator now lol). It was the fact of picking a new spot to jab myself. No prob with needles, theyre not fun obviously, but I dont have the cringe/fear of them. Just the day after day of this shit was NOT for me. I am currently scheduling my second infusion now. The first one went like this (for me). It was in two parts, two weeks apart. The first part was much longer and much more informed. As it should be. The allergy med is usually Benadryl. One of the most common reactions to an infusion is a hivey/rashy/flushed situation. Benadryl also usually makes one a little more sleepy/relaxed, which is good because lets face it, no one wants to be there and doin this shit. *I didnt have this reaction but felt it was better to be safe than sorry. **The one thing I did have however, was the slight metallic taste in my mouth, which is also extremely common. Luckily the had an array of Jolly Ranchers to alleviate this 😄 You'll get the full barrage of information of the DMT you'll be taking, so sit back and listen, take notes even to ask proper questions in return. You will be started off slow, then periodically stepped up in dosage as the time progresses. Am fairly sure you will have regular pit stops of staff offering drinks and snacks on top of the regular "how you doin" check-ins. I opted to not hang out for the full hour of observation afterwards as I was not having any mitigating issues to note. Overall time spent there was about 7hrs +/-. I pulled the Mom card and her taxi me, but I wouldve been fine driving myself, but it was definitely nice to have pep-talk and cool-down talk, to and from the infusion site. The second part (2 weeks later) was far far shorter for me, but may be just as long for you (or others). I completely overprepared - physical book, tablet with downloaded movies, drawing pad and pencils/pens, neck pillow, sunglasses (I know its indoors, but slap on a pair and kick back and chill, youre not goin anywhere lol), personal fave snacks, etc.. (I would still recommend this regardless btw, set yourself up for maximum chillax options, treat this shit like spa day almost) I had an amazing first round, according to the nurses, apparently. So I was upped to max dosage within my first hour. All the same applied: snacks and drinks and regular checkins. I had a far less, almost unnoticeable, metallic taste this time. My total time there, including a small cool-down observation phase was only about 5hrs +/-. Had to make phonecalls because I was 2hrs early for the ride I previously scheduled home. Am not saying that this would be the situation for you, but with that caveat, the inverse exists just the same, and you may have an entirely better experience than me. So keep that in mind when/if you play "what if", because it works both ways 😄 So overall, take your physical and mental standpoints of your standard operating procedure - your "day-to-day" and use that as a factor. Can you afford at least a half to a full day of occupying a chair (like using PTO for work)? Can you establish and keep the habit of a daily/weekly poke? AND if you really want to enjoy yourself, and bring some levity to the situation you can do what I did (or similar). My first round I wore this (also wore it to the UCSF study I am participating in) - Super cool shirt My second round I drank my coffee out of this - Super cool tumbler Best of luck and keep us posted!
