I smashed one directly into a metal pole going a but over 60mph and the only thing that broke was the lens. I would say probably a small 2-3 cell battery since you don't need a long recording time and smaller batteries are cheaper so you can get multiple and just plug a new one in when you launch If you want to be fancy you could have a safety pin to disconnect the battery from the outside then pull the pin before launch (just need two bits of metal that are forced together and a plastic pin that forces them open when you are on the ground) The whole thing will be fairly light and cheap and is pretty customizable for whatever you need. The wires to the camera also allow you to place the electronics and camera anywhere you want
