They are great!!!! Say they aren't great again and I'm calling your manager to file a complaint with HR! You don't want to see what happens when I unleash my inner Karen! ; ) IDK..... For a 13 year old on a limited budget I'd honestly have to suggest him buying 2 or more Pi zero W2's and then add one of these usb/ethernet hats for each one so he can have wired networking and extra USB ports for whatever he needs to plug into it and then with 1 or more free USB ports he can plug in a USB hub if he has one or buy them if needed and they're cheap but with that hub he can plug into it however many USB thumb drives he has and he has 2 options. Each USB thumb drive can serve as its own seperate storage drive or there is a repo online that will allow someone to combine multiple drives into 1 single drive or you could combine 4 of them into 2 sets of drives both consisting of 2 separate thumb drives so it would show up in the OS as 2 new strives or if him or his parents have ant extra external HD's those can be used too obviously. Since he will have lots of gpio's available he could also experiment and learn how to use sensors, relays, motors, pwm, i2c, i2s, etc etc, there's way more useful and educational possibilities with that option than if he burnt his whole $200 on a single mini pc barely good enough to browse online while running some background apps..... I mean he did say he wants to do this to learn and experiment so why not get the most bang out of a limited budget and if he's anything like most other 13 year olds he may very well become uninterested within a few months or a year in reality..... The kid is 13! Don't recommend he spend all his hard earned money, not when he's gonna need all the money he can get in just a few short years for going on dates, paying homeless guys 10$ to buy him and his friends some beer and so on and on!
