Recording uses more power than playback. If you can, swap freshly charged batteries in or run it on external power. If you have a machine without a DC input, I recommend either something like this: https://www.amazon.com/T-HOT-Battery-Eliminator-Supply-Adapter/dp/B08925X4FC (make sure to select the version that replaces only one AA) or to get some NiMH batteries and a charger. Eneloops and rebadged Eneloops like IKEA LADDA work greawt. When I was testing a few years ago, I was able to get ~6 full disc burns out of a 2000mAh energizer/grocery store NiMH battery and those batteries are still running fine today, so it doesn't have to be high end, just reputable.

If this has a DC 3V port, any Sony DC 3V suppply will work. If not, then for this machine specifically, using USB power should work. But I've had mixed luck even on HiMD where that was explicitly an option. If you don't have any, I recommend getting some rechargeable NiMH batteries. For my NE410, when running NetMD on it, I use this cable: https://www.amazon.com/T-HOT-Battery-Eliminator-Supply-Adapter/dp/B08925X4FC If you have one you might also conider using an MDLP machine in this role as it'll get better battery life than any HiMD machine.
