And just so you know, you don't necessarily need an official diagnosis to get the benefit of identifying autism. It can be a very long and expensive process that doesn't always have great returns, depending on the support that's available in your area. That's not to say you shouldn't continue seeking one, but just giving yourself a better understanding of autism and accepting that within yourself (if it feels accurate to you) can be a huge relief. I'm self-diagnosed, and even without professional help, I've found a lot of ways to support needs that I was never even properly aware of previously. Knowing more about my own thinking and behavioral patterns made it much easier to accept and accommodate myself. This book helped me a lot with that understanding and drastically changed the lens through which I viewed my issues.
