This one or this one. It's all structural steel, bolts, foam & vinyl. Reviewers look at 100 benches a year and make a living on telling us the distinctions. If you zoom out, there are almost no distinctions in daily use. Gym equipment can be it's own hobby and that's great. I'm a gearhead in a different way. If you just want to lift on something sturdy, $150 will do you.
Cite your source that inexpensive = unsafe. Obviously there are going to be benches out there that suck but the only 'failure' I've seen / heard of was user error. Simply put, it's not that hard to make something you can bench on out of steel. Example one - Mikolo, $150, FID 8. Stronger than any pop pin design from rep, rogue or whoever. Example two - No-name, $120, 'adjustable weight bench'. If you don't want to buy in on a ton of attachments or make a kink out of home gym equipment, I don't think there's anything $800 gets you that $120 doesn't in a weight bench. I could be wrong.
Neither bench will help you lift more or get in better shape. Other people lift differently but for me I can't imagine what either of those benches would do that a $100 Amazon bench won't do. Flip a coin EDIT: My bad. Said $100 amazon, meant $120 walmart. Also, I'm sympathetic to OP's paralysis and overthinking (do it myself) but that's what it is.
