I highly suggest Corelle as they are affordable and last a while. You can either buy them secondhand at thrift stores or you can buy brand new sets at Walmart. If your budget allows, I suggest getting a set with at least four dinner plates and four cereal bowls. As for silverware, I would purchase some cheap stainless steel sets at Walmart or a store similar to it. Again, I would stick to at least four sets. I'm glad you mentioned having your own blender and microwave. Those are really helpful. You didn't mention a meal plan, but if you did purchase one (no matter what kind it is), email food services to see if they have a dietitian on staff to explain what could be safe for you get at the dining halls. You never know when you might have to do that or if a friend offers to bring back something for you. Don't be afraid to keep snacks (and a water bottle) on you in your backpack. Never know when plans may change due to friends, weather, or classes.
