If you follow a structured plan, like Starting Strength, you will get stronger every time you go to the gym. You will know how to prepare, exactly what you are going to do while there (even weeks and months ahead of when you go to the gym) and you will know when you are done. Also you will know that what you did just made you stronger as long as you get your rest. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0982522738/?bestFormat=true&k=starting%20strength&ref_=nb_sb_ss_w_scx-ent-bk-ser_k0_1_11_de&crid=1MMK506KV59WT&sprefix=starting%20st r/StartingStrength
