It was adhesive, and it's a PAIN to install and make look good, but not impossible. Strongly recommend removing the sliding portion of the window and doing the work indoors on a flat, level surface. That will minimize how much of it you have to do on a ladder. https://a.co/d/05CZOwOy <- This is the exact product I used. Based on my experience with it, I would recommend it. I've had it on my windows since 2023 and it has held up perfectly. Install tips:Clean your windows to perfection before applying. Any little bumps of dirt or grit will raise the film and will be not fixable. I used isopropyl alcohol slightly diluted with a razorblade scraper to make sure all the stuck pollen and overspray from your neighbor's spraypainting is gone and the glass is completely smooth. Then keep cleaning over and over again until your paper towels come back completely clean with nothing gross on them. THEN begin application (spray with dishsoap/water solution, unpeel and stick on a too-big sheet of the stuff, and trim the edges with a razorblade very slowly and carefully).
