I did both. Lifted the stem using the included spacer, then angled it a little. Added these bars: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FN46LKH2?th=1 I went with the 50mm rise, but I think 35mm would've been a better balance. The bars do lose that stealth, agressive look that flat bars give, but it certainly saves my back being more upright. Pic of my bike: https://imgur.com/8t47iUi
