So I do woodworking and tool restorations. Have about a dozen stones and a collection of chisels. A lot of them are great for hobbies. I will say having some decent sharpeners help I suggest this one because it’s small, cheap and has the v groove for ensuring you can square up your knives, chisels ect. This includes disposable blades as well. This guy is perfect to keep nearby since the tools for gunpla are rather small and small blades will cause your natural stones to become uneven. Also it’s just the right size to use for nippers without having to take them apart. But I’d really recommend a good strop Stropping your blades removes burs and polishes them. Always strop after sharpening. But If you strop regularly you don’t have to sharpen nearly as often which means the chisels, blades last longer and they are more effective. As a word of warning with carving knives and those small chisels in particular, they are very prone to snapping, so keep them scary sharp and never pry with them. If you get snagged, back it out and approach from the other side. And those single edge chisels are fantastic, super brittle again, but mind your bevel. They dive in the opposite direction. So if the back is flat against the spru your are “bevel up” which means it dives down. If you’re cleaning a part, use it bevel down matching the angle to make sure it doesn’t unexpectedly cut into the peice.
