I think that what you need is variance. Almost everything in that room is the similar height, similar palette, similar box-shaped and non patterned. And we need wall decorations. I’d like to see a rounded or oval rug. Or rounded coffee table if you have a square rug. And some lamps for light variance/mood lighting That space looks large, but I have an oval orange rug from rugs.com that I like. It was my very affordable option. If I had more of a budget I would have went with this one from revival rugs. Couches are so tough to pick out. Everyone has different preferences, and budgets range WILDLY from a 2nd hand ikea couch for $200 to $6k for a new couch. I personally bought an ikea couch for $200 2nd hand. Cleaned the fuck out of it. Stuffed the cushions with 2 inches of memory foam. And Then bought custom fabric covers off Etsy for like $350. I got a greyish velvet color. But they have like a hunter green that would add depth. But honestly, I’d keep the couch you have now. Unless you really hate it. I think wall art will bring a lot of the height variance that you need. Art of various sizes would be great. Leave large empty spaces. Not everywhere should be covered. I think a good spot for like 3 small pieces of art or photos is on both sides of the door. Those narrow wall spaces. I’d put a wall sconce and a single photo on the corner wall that attaches to the door and the TV wall. And then the other one I would just put 3 photos/art. All in different frames, maybe only one would be a bold black frame. I’d add a floor lamp. I have 2 of this one from Amazon. I have them on both sides of my TV. I like them a lot. I think if you had the wall sconce, you only need 1 floor lamp. Then I’d put a large piece of art to the right of the TV. I’d put real Curtains on windows. I’d look on Facebook marketplace for a credenza / sideboard to use as a TV console. And I’d look for a different coffee table. And then a side table. Where I’d put a small lamp. Lastly I’d hang the TV, but not much higher than it is right now. Get a soundbar on the media console instead of that random large speaker. I’d put a rubber tree in a large colorful ceramic vase to the left of the TV. Maybe some English ivy on the other side of the door. And a small succulent on the coffee table or side table. Maybe instead of the sconce and rubber tree I’d move that plant bar cart and lamp to the corner next to the TV and the chair to the other side. I think once you get like the big pieces of furniture that you like. You can really play with the positioning around the room. And you’ll need to make a decision of do you like a more contemporary modern like Mid century modern or a more modern contemporary like floating TV consoles and minimalism. Sorry for the long reply. I am bored and had nothing better to do.
