Hi! I am a little over 2 months out from a hind limb amputation for my indoor/outdoor cat. She was previously a free roamer for 10 years and I have learned my lesson in the worst way with an injury that took her leg… Like many others will say, it’s probably harder emotionally on us than it is on the cat. My girl was running & jumping 2 weeks out and would have started before then if I allowed it. She’s now living a great with an extra large catio and supervised backyard time. The only difference in her personality is that she’s more cuddly now, but she has adapted surprisingly well to this new life. She’s the most cool/unique/spunky/adventurous cat I’ve ever known so I was worried about that but she’s the same as she’s always been! Get some step stools for easier access and dasuquin for joints and Joey will be just fine. I’d highly suggest a catio and some sticks from other yards to help keep things interesting. I got this one which was seriously the best investment and probably will be on sale for prime day this month: https://a.co/d/0d3Er4F9 Also, take it from someone who is sooooo emotional ab her cats, it WILL be fine. I cried so much and felt so distraught when she had phantom limb pains or coordination issues but she is at 100% now. There will be rough patches but he’ll come out on the other end with time!
