For a clean boss gift, I would look at Parker Jotter Stainless Steel. It is a simple metal ballpoint that works for documents and stays way under $75. Only caveat is the slim body.

I think situations like the Zento Signature does more harm for pen community than good, because it was caused by influencers blowing more smoke up the pen's booty hole than a TX bbq cookout. At $38, you can get a Uni Jetstream Prime Twist (which I consider Uni's best pen) and an extra refill. You can get a Zebra Sarasa Grand and like 12 Pentel Energel refills (widely considered the best gel ink available). Hell, you can get a Parker Jotter or Jotter XL and a pocket full of quality refills. At $58 for the limited edition Zento Signature, you can get a brand new TRCPC Titanium Bolt or rOtring 800 + refills. You can pick up a variety of high quality used pens in mint condition as well, such as a Spoke Design CX-E that recently went for $50. If you save a bit more, you can also get the Spoke Design Roady at $70 which is a proper metal pen with a magnetic cap and components made of titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum, arranged for proper balance. Thing is, most people getting pens aren't aware of any of these options and instead get on social media and see influencers glorifying what essentially amounts to a knockoff Roady. There are so many pens out there worth hyping, this was NOT one of them.
