What you're looking for would be a Rolling Mill like they use for jewelry. It's about as close as you can get to a calendering machine that would be affordable. Nothing else will make any measurable difference. I don't know anyone who has one though to test it out, and I'm not going to drop a $150 for an experiment. I guess you could always buy it and return it if it doesn't work out. I'd be concerned it's going to stretch and destroy the paper instead of neatly compressing it. Think of those penny press machines.
